Media and Method

All paintings shown are oil on canvas or linen.

Drawings are graphite and chalk on paper.

Most drawings are done from life, but due to the time involved in realistic portraiture, I often use photographic references for my paintings.  I do not use projectors or other artificial aids.

I am a self-taught painter.  I have been riding and drawing horses nearly every day since I was a child, and have been painting oil portraits professionally for more than twenty years.  I have also trained horses in Alabama, Colorado and Tennessee for twenty years. In addition to working with colts, I enjoy training people to handle their problem horses.  Past exhibitions have been in Denver, Colorado; Charleston, South Carolina; Franklin, Tennessee; and Highlands, North Carolina.  I currently live in central Tennessee horse country.
